Roy Kelley

Just wanted to update you on Roy.  Last Monday when he went to the ICU unit , the doctors gave me a very grim prognosis.  Things were really going badly.  Roy had congestive heart failure with both sides failing. His lungs were not working properly and his kidneys were near failing plus he had the flu.  They told me to get his affairs in order and for a few days we were on a roller coaster , emotionally.  On Friday he began to start getting better and on Saturday they moved him to a room.  Today, Wednesday ( 10 days) he is home and is feeling really good.  Those 10 days of rest helped him a lot.  They have told us that he could go back to the hospital if the fluid starts to build up again and CHF could happen again.  Since his ejection fraction ( for his heart ) is at 10% make it difficult for him .  This ejection fraction may move up some since he is over the flu , but for the past 2 years hs ejection fraction has been 20%.  This is not high but people can live with that as long as nothing else goes wrong.  We have to make sure his fluid stays at low levels and watch his salt and sodium intake.  God
Thank to you and all our Telfair friends for prayers and concern.

I will keep you all posted as I can.

Hi John,
I am sitting here across from Roy in our den.  He is in the chair with his oxygen on.  He just got out of the hospital again. This is the third time since March.  He has pneumonia.  He is still not over it but they sent him home anyway.   He is still having trouble with the fluid and is on a very slippery slope with too much fluid around his heart then to not enough fluid for the kidneys.  He has stage III Renal disease along with everything else.  He has not rallied back from this like he has in the past.  He is extremely tired and weak, he sleeps a LOT and spends a lot of time talking to people who are not in the room or thinking he is doing something he is not.  That may be normal but I don't think it is.  His oxygen levels drop below 84  anytime he is off the oxygen for a few min and it only gets to about 94 with it on.  I know some people can live with this number but with the restricted lung disease, his heart fraction working at only 15% and his Kidney disease at stage III, he has a lot going on and I am just worried about him.  I am trying to wear all the  hats ....nurse, wife, business partner.....You have been there so you know.
I have taken care of a lot of things that I know are inevitable either sooner Or later, this will just make it easier for me when that time comes.  I have Les ( our grandson) working with me and helping me with the business and I thank God for that.

I just wanted you to know how things are and that I will keep you all posted.  I really appreciate all the calls and messages etc. from before. I feel so badly that I could not answer them or call back. I was with him so much but I got all the messages that were left and I hope you will tell everyone how much I appreciate them and the emails.
John,I will let you know how things go.  Just keep him in your prayers.
